our Story
Soul food
At our core, we’re here to bring the comforting, familiar taste of dumplings to the community we love. For us, these aren’t just meals—they’re nourishing, heartfelt bites that bring people together.
Our vision is simple: to serve delicious food at fair prices while supporting those around us. We know times can be tough, which is why we keep our menu purposefully affordable.
We believe food should be affordable while remaining nourishing and full of inspiring flavors. We’re not here to become millionaires but to make a difference, sharing meals that feel like home. With each bite, we hope to bring a little comfort, a touch of warmth, and a sense of community.
Meet the chef
Kaal was born and raised in the heart of old Kathmandu, in a family of generational blacksmiths. Though he grew up in poverty, his childhood was filled with the most delicious meals, lovingly prepared by his mother. From a young age, he was his mother’s taste tester, learning the art of cooking by watching, tasting, and observing her. She taught him the invaluable skill of creating remarkable dishes with limited resources.
Over time, his connection to cooking deepened, and his efforts to replicate his mother’s dishes evolved into a lifelong passion. With years of practice, trial, and error, Kaal eventually found his way into commercial kitchens, working alongside chefs at restaurants like Lyons Fork in Lyons and 1914 House in Niwot, Northern Colorado.
Having experienced life’s hardships—including times when he couldn’t afford food—Kaal understands and empathizes with the daily struggles faced by working people. His journey fuels his commitment to creating accessible, nourishing meals for all.
